A realtor, also known as a real estate agent, broker or realtor is someone who represents buyers or sellers of real property or real estate. An agent can work alone, but most often an agent works for a brokerage firm that is licensed by the government to represent buyers and sellers in transactions. In addition to being trained in the laws of the state, agents must undergo a background check, fingerprinting and criminal background investigation as part of the licensing process. To become a Realtor you will need to apply for a Realtor License. Applying for a license online is the fastest and simplest way to get started. Once you have completed your application, you will be contacted by the Registry of Real Estate Agents in your state. You will need to provide your completed application along with your fee, as well as any proof of education, licensing or other credentials that you may have received. After you have submitted your application, you will receive an acknowledgment and approval in about seven to ten days.
A realtor will often consult with a realtor when selling or buying a house. Although they are not always required, brokers on their own have access to multiple listings to help them find the perfect home for the perfect buyer. When a seller knows that there is likely to be a buyer looking for his or her house, they are more inclined to sell the house quickly. By having a Realtor look at the property, it is much easier for a seller to determine if the home is one that someone would want to purchase rather than wasting time and effort trying to sell it on their own.
