Midland Lawn Maintenance Association Review

You’ve made the decision that it’s time to add a lawn sprinkler device. Perhaps you’ve recently constructed or purchased a new home, or you’ve simply had enough of keeping track of your lawn and garden watering. It’s becoming tiresome to have to pull the sprinklers and hoses around every now and then. There are so many other things you should be doing with your time that are more enjoyable. Not only would having a lawn sprinkler device make it easier to maintain a beautiful lawn, but it would also add value to your house. Now, if you prefer to do things yourself, you might consider doing the job yourself. You will undoubtedly save money. If you do it right, you might even get a lot of satisfaction from a job well done. Homeowners can instal a lawn sprinkler system and have done so successfully in the past.

However, for every properly installed owner-built device, there is likely another that has failed to meet expectations. If you are a serious “I can do something about home installation and maintenance” type who is willing to do the necessary research and planning, then go for it. But don’t expect it to be a weekend project. If your lawn is larger than your living room and dining room, you can expect to work every day for many weekends.

If you choose to do it yourself and enjoy the occasional two- or three-hour plumbing, electrical, or carpentry operation, installing a lawn sprinkler system might be one project best left to the professionals. Even if you are uninterested in home improvement projects, there is plenty you can do to prepare for the installation.

If you haven’t finished your landscaping yet, you should think about where you’ll put trees, bushes, and plants. Some plants need a lot of water, while others cannot withstand it. Plants that need similar quantities of irrigation should be clustered together in your design. Hydro-zoning is the term for this. The zones in your lawn sprinkler and irrigation system will run at various times and provide different quantities of water. Hydro-zoning decreases the likelihood of certain plants receiving too much water when others receive insufficient water. You should sketch out the various planned or current vegetation areas and talk to your installer about them.
